From Riley Adams Stops Time
Half an hour later, Riley was seated across from AJ in a booth at Hannigan’s. They’d ordered burgers and both had beers in front of them.
“I talked to Wells today,” Riley said.
AJ swallowed a sip of beer. “And?”
“He’s going to help. He has some kind of time machine he says he’s been meaning to test out. He’ll be here tomorrow.”
“And you’ll bring Artemis back?”
Riley gave her a smile. “I’ll bring Artemis back.”
“You think it’ll be easy?” AJ asked.
“Sure,” Riley said, trying to sound more confident than she felt. “We go back, grab Artemis, and come home. Nothing to it.”
“As long as the time machine doesn’t malfunction.”
Riley shot her a glare. “Don’t even joke, man. We’ve had enough problems with malfunctioning time machines.” She took a sip of her beer. “I’d prefer to just avoid time travel all together so hopefully your girlfriend can keep herself out of trouble after this.”
